Why Wireless Across America?

Preserving and expanding wireless access across all regions of the country—regardless of how rural the geography—is essential to America’s safety, prosperity and global competitiveness. From spurring business growth that creates new jobs to protecting citizens in the face of natural disasters and personal accidents, reliable wireless service has a significant impact on our country’s well-being and economic development.  

Already, wireless customers contribute over $2.5 billion of the more than $4 billion in Universal Service Funds (USF) collected each year for use in high-cost areas, such as America’s more rural regions. Rural wireless users deserve to experience the benefits of their contributions, and Congress must work to ensure pending telecom reform legislation accelerates advanced wireless services.
